About Us
The Warrnambool Meat Barn began serving the Warrnambool and district community with quality produce at family-friendly prices in March 2008. However, the c
oncept for the store had been floating around its owners’ minds for some time – as a local family which ran the district’s only abattoir, a local butcher shop and Meat On The Move service, a large retail outlet seemed a logical progression.
A site was located in the town’s industrial estate, adjacent to the Midfield Meat Group’s abattoirs – and work on the new store began.
Opening in March 2008, the store was inundated with customers keen to take advantage of its quality product and attractive prices. As a Victorian butcher shop with wholesale meat prices, demand soon necessitated an extension of its product ranges and the shop floor.
The Meat Barn has absorbed the Meat On The Move facet of the business and caters for wholesale and retail customers.
The Warrnambool Meat Barn provides support to a host of community organisations and provides employment to dozens of locals. Its commitment to supporting the region which supports it extends to the district’s farming fraternity, with the vast majority of beef and lamb sourced locally.
The family-friendly shopping atmosphere at the Warrnambool Meat Barn is evident in the lollipops available for each child customer, the popular Kids’ Club, footy tipping competition and in-store computer, which provides nutritional information, recipes and the ability for each loyalty card holder to check their details.
